Confirmation

Confirmation is the means by which the faith, first given at Baptism, is confirmed by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

In the Latin Church, Confirmation is regarded as an essential building block of faith, one which is only conferred on those who are mature enough in their faith to understand its significance, usually around age 14 (Year 10).

The Cathedral parish course usually begins in January, with applications open in the autumn of the previous year. Application details will be announced at Masses and published in the Cathedral Newsletter.

There are many practicing Catholics, of every age, who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Those who wish to do so, please contact Chaplains@rcdow.org.uk to register your interest. There are a number of Confirmation liturgies for adults during the year and preparations for the Sacrament will be tailored to your needs.
