The Guild of St John Southworth
Members of the Guild of St John Southworth are proud to volunteer in memory of a saint whose work and mission was based in Westminster
The Guild of St John Southworth
The Guild of St John Southworth, launched in early 2015 at the request of the late Canon Christopher Tuckwell, former Administrator of Westminster Cathedral, is a key part of the Cathedral’s welcome team. Building on the important work of those who volunteer on the Cathedral Information Desk, Guild members, dressed in their distinctive red robes, not only welcome visitors, but are available to show them around the Cathedral, free of charge, helping them to understand its history, art, architecture and point out items of interest that may otherwise go unnoticed.
The Guild also offers longer, guided tours which can be general or specific in content. These must be pre-booked through the Guild Coordinator and charges are available on request. All the Guild members are enthusiastic and passionate about passing on their knowledge and love of the Cathedral to others. They meet throughout the year for talks and visits as part of ongoing training or for social gatherings. A monthly newsletter keeps everyone aware of rotas and relevant information.

New members are always welcome. If you are a good communicator, who enjoys meeting people and can spare a few hours on a weekly or monthly basis, please get in touch. There is a training programme and newcomers are supported and offered opportunities to meet and shadow other guides.
