Volunteers Needed

From 1 July 2026 to (potentially) late January 2027, Westminster Cathedral will be the setting of a fully immersive world of sound and light, for four nights a week.

Luminiscence is a ground-breaking take on the concept of son et lumière; a 360-degree video projection experience, using 24 laser projectors, which will bring the Cathedral to life in breath-taking ways with colour and imagery, culminating in a vision of what the Cathedral may one day look like fully covered in mosaics.

The experience is accompanied by carefully selected music accompanied by a recorded poetic narration by Hugh Bonneville, specially scripted for the Cathedral by Tim Whitnall.

The 100+ performances will take place from Wednesday until Saturday each week, with one performance a night at 9pm from July until mid-September. Thereafter, there will be two performances a night at 7.30pm and 9pm.

We need volunteers!

This provides an important opportunity to raise some much-needed funding for the upkeep of the Cathedral, by selling programmes and merchandise. As such, we are asking for adult volunteers who would be willing to work from 8pm to 10.30pm in the summer months and from 6.30pm to 10.30pm from mid-September.

Previous sales experience would be useful, but is not essential as full training will be provided.

You do not have to volunteer every day, but we are looking for people who can work at least two evenings a week on average during this period.

Volunteer Sign-up

Volunteers are required every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 1 July to late January 2027, for evening performances of Luminiscence in Westminster Cathedral.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a historic cultural and spiritual initiative at Westminster Cathedral, presenting it to a wide new audience quite literally in a different light.
