Installation Vespers & Mass: Information


On Friday 13 February 2026, at 5.30pm, a Solemn Pontifical Vespers will be prayed for the Most Rev Richard Moth, Archbishop-elect of Westminster, on the eve of his Installation in Westminster Cathedral.

Timetable:

7.35amMorning Prayer in Crypt*
8amMass in Crypt*
10.30amMass in Crypt*
11.30amConfessions until 12.30pm in the Cathedral
12 noonMass in Cathedral Hall** (no livestream)
5.30pmSolemn Pontifical Vespers (livestreamed – see below)

*The Crypt Chapel of St Peter is accessed via the Choir School carpark on Ambrosden Avenue.
**Cathedral Hall is accessed via Ambrosden Avenue.

Westminster Cathedral will open at the usual time and remain open until after Solemn Vespers.

There will be no 5.30pm Mass.

Tickets are not required for Solemn Vespers, and general seating will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

We reserve the right to restrict admission, contingent on behaviour; please follow the instructions given by Cathedral staff, security, stewards, and signage.

The following day, on Saturday 14 February at 12 noon, the feast of Ss Cyril and Methodius, the Most Rev Richard Moth will be solemnly Installed as the 12th Archbishop of Westminster in Westminster Cathedral.

Westminster Cathedral will open at 9.30am for ticket holders only, reopening at 4pm for general admission.

There will be no Morning Prayer, 8am Mass, 10.30am Mass, 11.30am Confessions, or 12.30pm Mass.

Sunday 15 February & Ash Wednesday

On Sunday 15 February, Archbishop Moth will celebrate the 12 noon Mass (livestreamed), and all are most welcome to attend. Likewise on Ash Wednesday (18 February), Archbishop Moth will celebrate the 8am Mass with the imposition of ashes.
