In his pastoral letter for Good Shepherd Sunday, Archbishop Richard Moth asked that all parishes offer Rosaries and Holy Hours each week, between now and Pentecost, for vocations to the priesthood.

This is particularly poignant this year, as there are no Ordinations to the priesthood for the Diocese of Westminster.

Here in Westminster Cathedral, our regularly scheduled Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament each Friday will be offered as a time of prayer for vocations, following the Archbishop’s intentions:

Week 1Pray for men to be open to God’s call to the priesthood.
Week 2Pray for those currently discerning the priesthood.
Week 3Pray for seminarians in their formation.
Week 4Pray for priests in your parish, and all clergy serving in the Diocese.

Following this month of prayer, the Cathedral will continue to pray for vocations before the Blessed Sacrament each Friday for the foreseeable future.

God our Father,
You give us the Sacraments as signs and instruments of your love and mercy.

Draw from amongst your disciples men who are willing to serve your Church generously as priests in the Diocese of Westminster, to minister to your people and to proclaim the Gospel to all.

Send your Spirit to guide and strengthen them, to be their companion on the journey, as they discern your will for their lives.

This prayer we make through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Blessed Lady Immaculate,
pray for us.

St John Southworth,
pray for us.
