THE CHORAL FOUNDATION

Westminster Cathedral is very blessed to be the home of the world-class Cathedral Choir. The Choir relies entirely upon the Cathedral to cover its running costs and this is becoming increasingly challenging to do.  We have therefore launched ‘The Westminster Cathedral Choral Foundation’ to support the Choir both now and for the future.  You are warmly invited to consider becoming a Patron of The Choral Foundation by making a regular gift or pledging to leave a gift in your will.  As a Patron you will enjoy special benefits and be part of this new chapter in the Choir’s history.  To find out more, please pick up one of the new brochures at the back of the Cathedral or contact the Cathedral Fundraising Manager, Marie-Louise Van Spyk.  Email cathedralgiving@rcdow.org.uk or telephone 07596 855 460.

Flyers are now available by the main doors of the Cathedral giving full information about services and times for Holy Week, the Triduum and Easter Octave. These are also marked in the Cathedral Diary here on the website. Note that extended hours for pre-Easter weekday Confessions (11am – 1pm and 4 – 6pm) began on Monday 18 March.

The times of the principal liturgies are as follows:

It is with great sadness that news was received of the death of Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus since his resignation of the papal office. On Tuesday 24 January, within the Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity, Cardinal Nichols will preside at a celebration of Ecumenical Vespers at 5pm in the Cathedral in memory of the late Pope Emeritus. All are welcome to attend.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace. Amen.

Applications for the Parish Youth Confirmation programme are now being received. If you are in Year 9 or above at Secondary School and you are either a parishioner of the Cathedral or you worship here regularly, then please register using the link here.

Please note that the programme begins on Wednesday 11 January 2023, with the teaching sessions taking place on Wednesday evenings from 6.00 – 7.30pm. A key expectation of the programme is a full and generous commitment to all of the sessions and the requirements of the course, as well as attending Sunday Mass weekly.

The Closing Date for applications is Sunday 18 December 2022.
